Get Ready To Fight Hunger With The 6th Annual #CharlotteBarbersCare City Wide Food Drive

CHARLOTTE, NC – Charlotte Barbers Care is hosting its 6th Annual Food Drive through August 25th. The drive will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. The food bank provides food to those in need in the greater Charlotte area. Traditionally, this annual food drive occurs during the summer since food bank donations are lower during that time.

The drive originally started out as a drive at Headlines Barber Shop. To date, the drives have yielded over 43,000 pounds of food for Charlotte families in need. This year’s food drive is sponsored by local businesses: Booksy, Inc, The Social Barber, Premium Direct Medical and Premier Pharmacy and Wellness Center. Patrons of Premium Direct Medical and Premier Pharmacy and Wellness Center can donate both food and money on site.

Season Bennett and her husband, Derrick, own Headlines Barber Shop. Season has continued to make this effort bigger every year. “I have an 8-year-old daughter who watches everything I do. I want her to know that if you see something that you don’t like in the world, we all have the power to make a difference.”

Continuing in that same tradition, this year’s food drive will be called #CharlotteBarbersCare Food Drive with a goal of collecting the equivalent of 10,000 pounds of food. The total will be made up of both food and monetary donations. Donating money goes a long way as just $1=7 pounds of food. The last day to donate is Saturday, August 25th.

The public is encouraged to bring non-perishable goods to benefit the food bank. Throughout the drive, the public is encouraged to share pictures on social media with the hashtag: #CharlotteBarbersCare.
