Two Charged With Stealing Trailer, Several Thousand Dollars’ Worth Of Equipment
LINCOLN COUNTY, NC — Lawndale man and woman charged with breaking into a Lincoln County home and stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of items.
Lincoln County deputies have charged Michael Wright, 52, and Peggy Canipe, 47, with breaking into a home, barn and outbuilding on South NC 10 and stealing several thousand dollars’ worth of items.
The break-ins happened on July 8th, according to deputies. A trailer, several household items, a Ford motor out of a vehicle and a motor stand were among the items reported stolen from the property.
On July 30th, Cleveland County Sheriff’s deputies received a tip about the trailer’s location on Wildlife Lane in Lawndale, NC. Investigators responded to the property and found the trailer, along with several thousand dollars’ worth of equipment stolen from the South NC 10 property.
On Thursday, the property’s owners, Wright and Canipe, were both arrested and charged with with three felony counts each of Breaking and Entering and Larceny After Breaking and Entering, and four felony counts each of Possession of Stolen Property and two felony counts of Larceny.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials say more charges may be filed.
