Original Story
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Four men have been arrested after police say they robbed a man at gunpoint and led police on a vehicle pursuit that resulted in a crash early Tuesday.
Police with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department were called around 1 a.m. to the 17800 block of Halton Park Drive near UNC Charlotte where they discovered a male pizza delivery driver had been robbed at gunpoint by four suspects and hit in the head with a firearm. He suffered minor injuries.
The suspects fled the scene in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck. As officers continued to respond to the scene, they located the suspect vehicle, which they say had been stolen in Charlotte on Monday night from an apartment complex parking located in the 7800 block of Spindletop Place.
The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the truck but the drivers refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit began. The officers chased the car until hit a Railroad Crossing-Arm Pole on Graham Street at Atando Avenue.
All four suspects were immediately taken into custody. Three of the four men have been transported by Medic to the hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
A firearm has been located and seized as evidence.
The suspects’ names and charges will be released once they have been formally charged.
