CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two, 10-year-old boys are safe after a large tree fell onto a home in east Charlotte early Thursday morning.
Firefighters with the Charlotte Fire Department were called around 4:30 a.m. to 1255 Pinecrest Avenue where a tree crashed into the bedroom of the house.
Firefighters rescued the little boys who were trapped in a bunk bed in the room at the time the tree fell.
The boys are okay and currently at the hospital getting checked out.
The boys’ father talked about this sons’ reaction immediately after the incident.
“It means a lot to hear one of my boys say that he was trying to pull the splintered wood away from his brother to free him from the bottom of the bunk bed before anyone even got there,” Father Ted Cleary said. “I am very proud of them both.”
Cleary believes root rot could be a reason the tree fell.
CFD was also able to save a dog. No other injuries were reported.
The incident is under investigation.
Check back for updates on the boys.
