Lincoln County Woman Charged With Stabbing Boyfriend During Dispute

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A Lincoln County woman is facing assault charges after authorities say she stabbed her boyfriend early Friday morning.

On August 24th at 12:45 a.m., Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic incident in the 400 block of Southside Road in Lincolnton.

Deputies located John Matthew Hoyle, 32, outside of the residence with stab wounds in his back and hip area.  According to deputies, Hoyle entered the home, where he and  33-year-old Aftan Marie Moore lived together, through a window because Moore would not let him inside.

After Hoyle entered, Moore stabbed him with a fixed blade knife.  Hoyle barricaded himself in a bathroom and Moore tried to stab him again when he ran outside.

Hoyle was taken to a Gaston County hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Moore was arrested and charged with one felony count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.  She is being held without bond.
