CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A fight led to a shooting at a nightclub at the NC Music Factory overnight on Monday, according to police.
Officers with the Charlotte-Meckleburg Police Department were called around 1:50 a.m. to the World Night Club, 900 NC Music Factory Blvd, where an employee had been shot.
Police say a fight between employees and several individuals belonging to the stage performer’s group broke out when club employees attempted to stop someone from drinking an open bottle of liquor, which is against state law.
During the altercation, multiple people were fighting and a club employee was shot. He suffered minor injuries and was transported by Medic to CMC Main. He is expected to be okay.
CMPD officers detained multiple people involved in the fight as they were trying to drive away from the club. More fights broke out in the parking lot and several other CMPD officers were needed in the area to maintain peace.
Authorities are still investigating the shooting and whether those who were detained will be charged.
