IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A 70-year-old man is charged after sexually assaulting two children at his home in Harmony, deputies say.
Iredell County deputies say Coy McDaniel sexually assaulted one child between January 2006 and January 2011.
McDaniel was charged with six counts of first degree statutory sexual offense.
On May 4 of this year, McDaniel sexually assaulted another child between August 2011 and August 2014, according to a news release. He was charged with four counts of felony first degree sex offense with a child, four counts of felony indecent liberties with a child and one count of felony attempted first degree rape of a child.
There is no connection between the two children, authorities say.
McDaniel was taken into custody on the charges from both investigations and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was issued a $150,000 secured bond.
