Water Cases Sold By The Thousands As Charlotteans Prepare For Hurricane Florence

CHARLOTTE, NC. — People in Charlotte aren’t taking any chances as they prepare for Hurricane Florence.

Water cases being sold by the thousands at Home Depot in east Charlotte, getting ready for the storm.

“Defiantly anxious, I have no clue what to expect,” says Cotswold resident Ariel Lee.

Lee was stocking up on flashlights for potential power outages.

Lowes at Northlake getting hundreds of calls all day for generators.

Plaza Midwood resident Chuck Norris says he’s most concerned about storm damage.

“A tree in the backyard falling on the house. That’s what I’m concerned about most. But I can’t do a lot about it right now,” says Norris.

Meanwhile, at the Food Lion on Park Road, employees have been restocking all day as people grab water, bread, and milk.

“Things that I can cook without a stove, if I have to or make sandwiches and things like that,” says North Charlotte resident Pam Bullock.

The Home Depot store manager tells WCCB they have emergency shipments of generators coming Tuesday. Lowes has 325 truckloads of emergency supplies heading to high-risk areas along the coast, then they’ll then make their way inland. We’re told Walmart has trucks coming in all the time.
