Gaston And Union Counties Announce Shelters Opening Friday

WCCB CHARLOTTE — With local impacts from Hurricane Florence expected to begin Friday, Gaston and Union Counties have announced the opening of shelters.

In Gaston County, officials say an evacuation shelter at Ashbrook High School will open Friday evening at 5pm. Ashbrook High is located at 2222 S. New Hope Road in Gastonia.

Union County officials also announced a shelter opening at Monroe Middle School, beginning Friday morning at 8am. Monroe Middle is located at 601 E. Sunset Drive.

Officials say additional shelter may be open should the need arise. That information will be released if and when that happens.
