RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper spoke alongside emergency management officials Thursday to provide an update on Hurricane Florence and ongoing preparations.
The state is already starting to feel the effects of Hurricane Florence as the outer bands have begun slamming the Carolina’s coast. Governor Cooper says nearly 30,000 resident, mostly coastal, are already without power and roads are beginning to flood.
Cooper says the entire state will be impacted by this storm, and officials are ready to respond. “Surviving this storm will be a test of endurance, teamwork, common sense and patience,” says Cooper.
The governor says the heavy rains and high winds are likely to spread across the Carolinas and linger for days. “The worst of the storm is not yet here.”
