ALBEMARLE, N.C. — Firefighters battled a large fire at Gerald’s Hair Center and Day Spa on Monday.
The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. at 1218 N. Second St. The building was engulfed in flames and heavy smoke.
Albemarle firefighters initially attempted a brief interior attack, but due to high heat conditions and the difficulty to put out the fire from within, all firefighters were pulled out of the building. An exterior fire attack was used instead.
Officials say one firefighter suffered a lacerated his finger.
