Three-Month-Old Dies After Tree Falls On Mobile Home In Gaston County

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A 3-month-old passed away after a tree fell on a mobile home in Gaston County on Sunday.

Kade Gill died when a tree fell on his family’s home located at 105 Moses Court in Dallas around 1 p.m., according to Gaston County EMS.

The boy was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, where he unfortunately died. Doctors said Kade suffered from head trauma.

Olen Gill and his wife Tammy say they had been watching out for trees around their home all day.

“We moved in the house with him like whenever we would go we would take him,” Tammy said. “I even moved the living room around to make sure his swing wasn’t in the path of these trees.”

Kade’s mom was holding him in her arms at the time the tree fell.

The child’s death is believed to be the first reported death due to tropical depression Florence.

Sunday was Kade’s 3-month birthday.

Florence has killed 12 people in North Carolina and six in South Carolina since Friday.
