MONROE, N.C. (News Release) — UCPS staff has been in close contact with highway patrol teams and the Union County Sheriff’s Office to monitor road conditions in our area. There are nearly 30 roads that are closed in Union County and thousands of residents remain without power. Monroe Middle is still open as a shelter and a Florida rescue team is set up at Monroe High for emergency evacuation efforts.
In addition, we want you to know that maintenance staff members are visiting schools and facilities to assess damages due to the storm.
As a result, the following decisions have been made about the UCPS school schedule for the week.
· On Tuesday, September 18, schools are closed for students and it is an Optional Teacher Workday for staff. All schools and offices will operate on a two-hour delay.
· All athletics are canceled and the UCPS After School Program will be closed on Tuesday, September 18.
· Wednesday, September 19, will remain an Optional Teacher Workday and school will be closed for students.
· Schools and offices will operate on a normal schedule on Thursday, September 20.
· The Tech Family sessions will be rescheduled.
