ROCK HILL, S.C. — An employee of the National Tire and Battery Store was robbed while making a security deposit for the business on Monday.
Rock Hill police were called around 6 a.m. to the store, located at 1383 Old Springdale Road to investigate the armed robbery.
While the employee was making the deposit, he heard someone enter the store, but believed it was just a coworker. When he turned around, a white male wearing a black hoodie and blue jean pants and holding a small, black handgun approached.
The suspect said to the employee, “I’ll take those,” referring to the deposit bags. The suspect took the bags and told the employee to go to the back of the store. The suspect then fled on foot.
The amount in the two deposit bags was not specified.
The employee told officers that the suspect had the handgun pointed towards the ground the entire time and never pointed it towards him directly.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
