Man Faces Charges After Armed Robbery, Shooting In South Charlotte Overnight

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that occurred in South Charlotte on Tuesday.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were called around 1:30 a.m. to 201 S. College St. where they arrested 22-year-old Reggie Pettus.

He has since been charged him with armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of stolen firearm and shooting inside the city limits.

Police say Pettus robbed the male victim of personal belongings, which caused a fight. During the brawl, the victim was able to get some of his stolen items back. Pettus then pointed a gun at the victim before leaving the scene.

Around 2:30 a.m., the victim realized Pettus still had possession of his keys so he couldn’t leave. Pettus returned to where the victim was waiting and shot at the victim with a handgun. No one was injured in the shooting.

Pettus then fled on foot into a nearby parking deck on 4th Street. Officers located the handgun Pettus used in the parking deck.

This is Pettus’ 10th arrest in Charlotte since 2015.
