Teen Behind Bars After Threatening To Shoot Several Teachers And Students At Gaston County School

GASTON COUNTY, NC. — A Gaston County teen is behind bars after threatening to shoot a list of teachers and students at Forestview High school and then shoot himself. That teen made his first court appearance Wednesday.

Tuesday, Hunter Bazzle was arrested and charged with making a false report of mass violence on an educational property. According to arrest warrants, the teen told five students on Monday that he was going to shoot several teachers and students, and then turn the gun on himself.

In court Wednesday, Prosecutors say Bazzle named at least three specific teachers in his threat.

Prosecutors said they have reason to believe Bazzle has ongoing mental health issues. Adding some of the teachers named in Bazzle’s threat had expressed concerns about his mental stability before the threats were made.

Darla Sucharski’s son goes to Forestview High School and is the same age as Dazzle. She’s shocked to find out what happened.

“That is extremely scary, yeah. I hadn’t heard anything from the school,” says Sucharski.

Chloe Cloninger is a senior at Forestview High, she says some of her friends have classes with Hunter Dazzle.

“I think they sit like right next to each other. That’s pretty scary to think about, because if I lost my friend,” says Cloninger.

Several other Forestview High School parents tell WCCB they received voice messages informing them of the threat Wednesday afternoon.

Bazzle’s bond is set at $250,000 secured, and his next court date is October 9th.
