CHARLOTTE, NC — A man wanted in connection to Monday night’s deadly south Charlotte shooting has been arrested in Virginia.
Police say 36-year-old Joel Miranda was located Wednesday thanks to help from the FBI and US Marshals. Miranda has been charged in connection to the murder of Pedro Diaz-Paz, 23.
Around 8:10pm on September 17, an off-duty CMPD officer reported multiple gunshots at the Beacon Hill Apartments on Beacon Ridge Road. The officer reportedly found Diaz-Paz inside a pick-up truck in the parking lot and attempted CPR.
Diaz-Paz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Miranda will be extradited back to North Carolina following an extradition hearing. There is no word yet on how long that process may take.
