CMPD says Devontrez Moore, 25, has been charged in connection to a shooting that took place Monday in the parking lot of Lawrence Orr Elementary.
Moore was arrested early Tuesday morning by a Probation and Parole Officer, according to police. He is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds and Discharging a Weapon on School Grounds.
Investigators still have not said what led to the shooting.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating another shooting in the parking lot of a Charlotte area school. Officers were called to Lawrence Orr Elementary School in east Charlotte after a man, who just dropped off a child, was shot at as he was leaving the school.
Police say they are currently interviewing the victim and are still looking for the gunman at this time. No one was injured in the shooting but the man who was getting shot at reportedly crashed into another car while trying to get away. Police do not believe the shooting was random.
The school’s principal sent out the following message to parents:
Good morning Lawrence Orr families, this is Principal Vaught with important information. Safety and security is important to me. This morning during arrival time we went on lockdown due to police activity on the street out in front of the school. Police are investigating reports of shots being fired. Everyone at Orr is safe and no one was injured. This did not involve anyone from the school. I will keep you updated with any further information when it becomes available. Thank you for your involvement with your child’s education at Orr.
