CMPD Releases Crime Stats That Show Improvements Both Needed And Made
CHARLOTTE, NC — New crime stats out released Wednesday by CMPD show homicides are down 32 percent in the first nine months of this year. There were 65 this time last year.
Violent crime is also down, as well as robberies and reported rapes.
Vehicle thefts however, are on the rise with more than 2,100 so far this year. CMPD says thieves target cars to steal guns, which is often a crime of opportunity.
Another crime concern is the number of shootings into homes. CMPD has a new task force to stop the shooting, and say they’ve made 64 arrests in the last two months.
