Panthers’ Obada Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After a stellar performance in his first career game, Panthers defensive end Efe Obada has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Obada played just 19 snaps against the Bengals, but he made them count as he accounted for an interception, a sack, two quarterback hurries and a pass deflection in Carolina’s 31-21 victory over Cincinnati.

Originally signed as a practice squad player with the Dallas Cowboys in 2015 from the NFL International Pathway Program, Obada became the first player from the program to make an active roster and record any statistics.

The Panthers 13 Defensive Player of the Week awards since 2013 are the most among NFC defenses.
