CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is facing charges after he forced himself onto a Charlotte-Mecklenburg School bus and assaulted a student on Wednesday.
Around 8:30 a.m., officers with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department say 28-year-old Tavares Perkins forced his way onto a CMS bus, pushed the driver who tried to prevent him from reaching the students and slapped a male student.
The bus was headed to Albemarle Road Middle School, 6900 Democracy Drive, at the time of the incident.
Perkins exited the bus and then followed it back to the school where he was arrested by a CMPD school resource officer.
No serious injuries were reported.
The identity of the student who was slapped will not be released because of his age.
Police have charged Perkins with simple assault, assault on a female and trespassing.
