What Impact Will Eric Reid Have On The Panthers?

All eyes will be on Eric Reid on Sunday; Carolina’s new safety is set to play his first game in a Panthers uniform.

Reid had his first practice with the team on Monday and Coach Ron Rivera said he looked pretty good, getting 60% of the defensive snaps.
Rivera has call signing Reid to a 1-year deal ‘a football decision.’
The safety fills a hole left when veteran Da’Norris Searcy got his second concussion in a month.
Reid says he’s been training 5-days a week after being unemployed in the off season and says he’ll be ready to take on the Giants on Sunday.

“Although I’ve been training 5 days a week, there is nothing like being on the field, taking on blocks, chasing after fast guys, so I’m trying to get my conditioning up and then just helping the team, hopefully I can make some plays and put us in a good position to win games,” Reid said.

It has been nine months since Reid’s contract with the San Francisco 49er’s expired.
He was the first player to kneel beside his former teammate Colin Kaepernick during the national anthem.
Monday, Reid wouldn’t say if he will continue to protest, but says he will keep speaking out about racial inequality.

“As we said when we started, Colin and I, nothing will change unless you talk about it.” Reid added, “We’re gonna continue to talk about it. We’re gonna continue to hold America to the standard that it says on paper, that we’re all created equal, because it’s not that way right now.”
