Google Maps Finds Average Charlotte Commute is 49 Minutes

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – How much time do you spend in traffic? There is new data showing the long commute for drivers in the Charlotte area.

Google Maps crunched the data to find the average commute time travelling into Charlotte during rush hour is 49 minutes!

And with school back in session, it gets worse this time of year!

Google found traffic increases 15 percent during the fall.

“If I’m going to let’s say, Waxhaw, instead of taking Providence, I’ll take back roads the whole way, even if my trip is 10 minutes longer,” explains East Charlotte resident Ryan Esposito.

Drivers in Raleigh have it better. Google says their average commute into the city is 37 minutes.

That’s 12 minutes shorter than Charlotte.
