BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Deputies are searching for a man accused of shooting and killing his step father in front of other family members in Cleveland County.
The shooting reportedly happened on October 1st around 7pm on Chambwood Lane just east of Boiling Springs.
Investigators say 20-year-old Davajiha Najee Quemon Hoey entered the residence and started an altercation with family members. The victim, 36-year-old Orlando Daniels, reportedly told Hoey to leave and that’s when shots rang out. Deputies say Daniels was not armed.
Sheriff Alan Norman said, “This is a senseless, cowardly murder, committed by a 20-year-old punk. He shot his unarmed step-father several times in front of their family members. He robbed his own mother of her husband, and his own sister of her dad. The shooter was just released from prison in June, and is on active probation. For a 20 year-old, he has spent a lot of time in jail and prison. We are going to send him back there for a long, long time. It is inconceivable how someone can destroy the lives of so many family members with one senseless, selfish act.”
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Hoey is asked to call 911.
