CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating after an inmate died early Wednesday morning.
Authorities say 33-year-old Karla Griffin died just after midnight on October 3, 2018. She was an inmate at Jail North in a general housing pod.

She was arrested for probation violation on October 2, 2018.
Griffin is the fifth inmate to die in a Mecklenburg County jail in 2018.
Authorities are investigating Griffin’s death as a suicide.
