Watch As Humanoid Robot Hangs Drywall
Researchers in Japan have developed a humanoid robot than can handle different construction tasks.
The Advanced Industrial Science and Technology Institute says the HRP-5P is a prototype that uses environment direction, object recognition and movement planning to do jobs like hanging drywall.
The AIST believes similar robots will be able to build aircraft and ships in the future and is working with private firms to use the HRP-5P as a springboard toward other developments.
Japan faces “manual shortages” due to an aging population and decreasing birthrate, so the HRP-5P is meant to help pick up where human labor falls short.
