A Final Goodbye To Maddox Ritch–The Six-Year-Old Was Laid To Rest
HUNTERSVILLE, NC. — A final goodbye to Maddox Ritch. Friday, dozens of people gathered for the six-year-old’s funeral. Maddox went missing in Rankin Lake Park almost two weeks ago and was found dead in a creek about a mile from where he disappeared.
Amanda Wallace is a good family friend of the Ritch family. She tells WCCB there were many tears during the funeral service, as family and friends gathered at the Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home chapel. Singing hymns, and reading scripture.
“It’s very painful, again, one day at a time. Knowing that he’s not suffering anywhere, he’s with the good Lord now,” says Wallace.
Amanda says Ian and Carrie Ritch are still in shock, living a parent’s worst nightmare.
“After all of this is over, we get to go back to our everyday lives and back to what we consider normal. They’re not going to have that for a very, very long time.”
Police escorted Maddox, to be laid to rest at a private burial.
