CMPD Confirms Suspect Wanted For 2017 Murder Died In California
CMPD announced Wedensday that the suspect wanted in connection to a two year old murder case died in 2017.
In September, officials say 27-year-old Victor Abarca-Soriano was identified as the suspect in the death of Alvara Morales in August 2017. The identification and location of Soriano was made with the help of detectives in at Prince George County Police Department in Maryland and Homeland Security.
On Tuesday, CMPD detectives contacted police in Oxnard, California where they learned of Soriano’s death. Police say Soriano died in Oxnard on December 13, 2017, nearly four months after the murder of Morales.
The victim has been identified as Alvara Lisandro Morales. He was 31-years-old. Investigators say Morales was shot multiple times while visiting known associates. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is investigating a homicide in east Charlotte after one person was shot and killed.
The incident happened around 7:30pm on Uppergate Lane off of Dunwoody Drive. Officials say a man was shot and found lying in the front yard of a home. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
This is Charlotte’s 61st homicide of 2017.
