PINEVILLE, NC — Police are investigating a homicide that happened Wednesday night at an apartment complex near Carolina Place Mall.
Police say Nikidrien Bailey was fatally shot in the stomach around 7pm at The Pines Apartments on Pine Acres Avenue. Police say the shooting was the result of an altercation between Bailey and a 15-year-old suspect.
The suspect was located at a nearby hospital, according to police, and was being treated for two gunshot wounds to the leg.
Police say his injuries appear to have been accidentally self-inflicted.
Bailey was reportedly a resident at the apartment complex and knew the suspect.
The suspect’s identity will not be released because he is a juvenile. Police say he is charged with a juvenile custody order for Second Degree Murder.
