SWAT Situation Ends Peacefully In Southeast Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A SWAT situation in southeast Charlotte ended peacefully after a multi-hour hour standoff. Police say the suspect, 30-year-old Todd Houston, had barricaded himself in a stairway at an apartment complex on Krefeld Glen Drive.
Shortly after 9am, police say Houston took off in a stolen vehicle while officers were attempting to serve him with 32 felony arrest warrants. Houston reportedly drove to the complex on Krefeld Glen and barricaded himself in a stairwell armed with a handgun.
Residents in nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution. Police say Houston surrendered peacefully shortly before 5pm.
At the time of his arrest, police say Houston, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
