Two Suspects Charged After Allegedly Robbing Man At Gunpoint

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have charged two men they say robbed a man at gun point while giving him a ride earlier this week.

D’Andre McLean, 18, and David Sanchez, 18, have each been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. McLean is also charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Sanchez is additionally charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

On Tuesday, October 16th, police say the victim caught a ride with McLean and Sanchez to a nearby check-cashing facility. The suspects and victim were prior acquaintances, but police have not elaborated on their relationship.

After cashing his check, the suspects reportedly pulled guns on the victim near the intersection of Smokehollow Road and Walnut Creek Road. Police say McLean and Sanchez took the victim’s money and cell phone, then forced him out of the vehicle before taking off.

McLean was in possession of a stolen firearm at the time of his arrest, police say, and Sanchez was in possession of a concealed weapon.

This case is still under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
