Should Cam Newton Be In The MVP Discussion?

The Carolina Panthers now have a 5-2 record after beating the Baltimore Ravens at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.
The final score was 36-21 and a lot of the credit for the win can go to quarterback Cam Newton.
He threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another against the league’s #1 ranked defense and he didn’t throw an interception.
Cam is playing so well that people are comparing his performance this season to 2015 when was named MVP.

In fact, Cam is playing even better than he did in his MVP season.
He has racked up a total 1955-yards this season with 309 rushing yards.
That is 156 more total yards than he had halfway through the season in 2015.
He has also thrown 2 more touchdowns and 4 fewer interceptions.

Yet, head coach Ron Rivera isn’t ready to start comparing the two seasons just yet.
When asked about it at Monday’s press conference, Rivera said, “He’s playing well. And I think it’s way too early to try and judge that. I’ll say that us as a team, we’re playing well. Again, the proof will be in the pudding when we get to the end of the year.”
