Victim Of Deadly I-77 Crash In York County Identified

ROCK HILL, SC — The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a three vehicle accident on I-77 Tuesday morning. Officials say 71-year-old Dale Beverlin, of Fort Mill, was killed after his dump truck struck two other vehicles in the rear and ran off the right side of the road into some trees.

The accident happened shortly before 10:30am on I-77 southbound near MM 81. Troopers say a commercial truck was pulling a tractor trailer when it slowed down to merge into the median. A Jeep SUV behind the truck also slowed to allow the driver over, but that’s when officials say they were rear ended by Beverlin.

The other truck driver, 56-year-old Rogelio Lastra, of Miami, was not injured. The injuries for the Jeep’s driver, 54-year-old Anthony Crawford, are unknown, troopers say.

Both men were seat belted when the accident occurred.
