CMS has confirmed that the Hopewell High School student was arrested for bringing a loaded gun on campus.

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — An investigation is underway after officials say a student brought a weapon on to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools campus on Wednesday.
Hopewell High School administrators say they received a tip regarding a student being on campus with a weapon and immediately notified school police officers.
Following an investigation and search of the student, a weapon was located.
Officials say the student has been charged by the Huntersville Police Department and is also receiving school consequences in accordance with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools Student Code of Conduct.
Authorities have not released the name of the student or details about the type of weapon that was found.
