Unknown Man Makes Suspicious Phone Call To Lincoln County Day Care Center

LINCOLNTON, NC — Authorities are trying to determine from who and where a suspicious phone call originated on Tuesday that prompted a brief lockdown.

The incident was reported around 3:30pm at the Mini Academy Day Care on Unity Church Road. Deputies say the day care’s director took the call around 3:27pm.

The man reportedly told the director that he had information on one of her employees, and the action she took next would determine whether the employee and daughter would be hurt over the next couple of days.

When the director tried to stand to alert another employee to call 911, deputies say the caller told her to sit down and not move. Officials say the caller hung up soon after without making any further comments.

A lockdown was placed on the day care to ensure all students and staff were present and accounted for. After a successful count, officials say children were released to their parents.

Deputies say they are still trying to determine who made the call and from where. The day care is scheduled to operate as normal, but officials say there will be increased patrols in the area.
