CHARLOTTE, NC — A Pineville Police officer is recovering after reportedly being hit while directing traffic Monday evening.
CMPD says Officer Scott Stewart was off-duty but in uniform while directing traffic in front of the Shining Stars Academy on Lancaster Highway around 5:50pm. When he was hit by a vehicle, investigators say he was also wearing a bright orange, high visibility uniform jacket and had his marked patrol car parked on the side of the road with blue lights flashing.
Officer Stewart was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a head injury. Officials say his injuries are non-life threatening.
Investigators say it was raining at the time of the accident. The driver reportedly stayed at the scene, and is not being charged at this time.
