2 Charged With Running Meth Lab Near Elementary School, Daycare

SHELBY, NC — Cleveland County deputies have charged two suspects with operating a meth lab on Polkville Road near an elementary school and daycare center.

Robin Plummer, 50, and Tanya Cargo, 38, have each been charged with Manufacturing a Schedule 2 Controlled Substance (Meth) and two probation violations. Additional charges are possible.

Investigators say they found the lab in the basement of a home on Polkville Road on Thursday evening. Plummer and Cargo were both living in the family member’s basement, deputies say, and operating the lab.

The family member reportedly had children living upstairs.

The home is located about a quarter-mile from Union Elementary School and roughly one-half mile from a child daycare facility. Investigators say staff at both facilities were alerted, but no threat was present.
