Union County Man Accused Of Firing Gun Over Girlfriend’s Head While Child Watched

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies say a Union County man is in jail following a domestic situation at a residence on Pageland Highway Monday evening.

Deputies say David Myers, 37,  got into an argument with his girlfriend in a bedroom inside the home.  A child that was in the home opened the bedroom door and saw Myers sitting on top of the victim with a gun pointed at her head, according to a news release.

Deputies say Myers then fired a round from the gun into the wall over the victim’s head.

No physical injuries were observed or reported by the victim or the child who saw the incident inside the bedroom.  Deputies notified the Union County Department of Social Services.

Myers was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and misdemeanor child abuse.
