Wednesday Marked The Second Busiest Travel Day This Thanksgiving
CHARLOTTE, NC. — Wednesday marked the second busiest travel day at the airport this Thanksgiving holiday. Passengers had to wait in long lines and experienced lengthy delays to get on their flight.
“We’ve been in bumper to bumper traffic all day today I would say,” says one traveler.
AAA says 90% of people traveling for the holiday do it by car. That’s why all State Troopers were out on the road Wednesday. The worst traffic times: from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Travel at Charlotte-Douglas busier than ever this year. Airport officials estimating roughly 30,000 more passengers than usual Wednesday. There were long TSA security lines wrapping around checkpoints.
“Fully expected, expected it totally and we’re prepared that’s why were here plenty early,” says Fort Mill resident Kathy Hulbert.
The long term parking lots at the airport filled up quickly. Airport officials say if you’re dropping someone off or picking them up, use the cell phone lot to prevent traffic.
