Suspect Charged With Threats of Mass Violence Against Prison, Schools

ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC — Alexander County Sheriff’s deputies say they have charged an inmate for threatening mass violence to a prison and schools.

On Thursday, November 15th the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office was notified about a letter that was mailed to Legal Services in Raleigh.

The letter had a return address from an inmate at the Alexander Correctional Institute, and reportedly included threats to blow up the prison and the three closest schools to the prison if authorities did not clear up an internal matter concerning the inmate.

Detectives went to the Alexander Correctional Facility on the Thursday and interviewed that particular inmate.

On Monday, November 19th the inmate was interviewed again and detectives obtained the original letter. It was sent to the NC Crime lab to be analyzed for fingerprints and DNA.

The offender was later identified as Sadarius Trumane Douglas, 24, who was charged with three counts of Threats of Mass Violence on Educational Property and one count of Making a Threat of a Destructive Device on the prison.
