CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD says a woman who was hit while crossing the street beside Bank of America Stadium Sunday afternoon has died.
The accident happened around 3:28pm on the 400 block of West Morehead Street. Police say 73-year-old Diane Babinec was crossing the street just a few steps behind her husband when she was hit by a 2012 Chevrolet SUV.
Babinec was taken to Atrium Health with life threatening injuries, and died around 12:21pm Monday.
Police say the driver, 19-year-old Brooklyn Kogod, was not impaired at the time of the accident and speed does not appear to be a factor.
