Jim Cantore Coming To NC In Prep For Winter Storm, Says “It Will Come In Like A Hammer”

ASHEVILLE, NC — Weather Channel Meteorologist Jim Cantore says he is coming to Asheville this weekend as the area braces for what could be a significant winter storm.

Cantore confirmed his visit on Twitter Friday while responding to two separate tweets. The storm is expected to bring a significant amount of wintry weather to the area.

Throughout the week, Cantore has been tracking the winter system and recently advised travelers to watch for heavy and rapidly forming precipitation spreading across parts of the I-85, I-40 and I-77 corridors starting Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Cantore says, “It will come in like a hammer in spots.”

Cantore has a history of showing up in areas during major storms, including Hurricanes Katrina, Floyd, Matthew and Irma. One county in Florida even jokingly issued a warning for Cantore to stay away as Hurricane Michael threatened the coast earlier this year.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office issued the tongue-in-cheek trespass notice on Facebook saying, “Everyone knows what’s in store when Jim Cantore shows up. So we issued a little notice. lol.”
