Police Charge Driver With 2nd Degree Murder After Deadly 2-Car Crash In East Charlotte, Victim Identified

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have identified the driver killed early Wednesday morning in east Charlotte.

CMPD says the two-car crash on Eastway Drive at Central Avenue took place shortly after 4:30am.  Larry Eugene Morrow, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Marla Sadowski, 36, was traveling north on Eastway Drive when she ran a red light at the intersection of Central Avenue and hit Morrow’s vehicle in the left driver side area.

Sadowski tested positive for alcohol impairment, officials say, and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. After her release, police reportedly charged Sadowski with Second Degree Murder and DWI.

The area was closed for several hours following the accident, but has been reopened.
