CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has been arrested after holding a woman at gunpoint and stealing her car in north Charlotte Tuesday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officers were called around 10:30 a.m. to N. Graham St. at W. 8th St. where an armed robbery had occurred.
A female victim told police 19-year-old Dionte Evans stole her blue, Honda CRV at gunpoint. Officers were quick to locate the car and conduct a traffic stop. Evans refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit began, according to a news release. He finally came to a stop on The Plaza near Plaza Park Drive where officers took him into custody.
Evans was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He has since been transported to the Mecklenburg County jail and charged with armed robbery and operating a motor vehicle while fleeing law enforcement.
The woman was not injured during the robbery.
CMPD is investigating the incident.
