Two Lanes Still Closed On 85 South Near Statesville Avenue Due To Earlier Accident

CHARLOTTE, NC — Two lanes are still closed after an accident on I-85 southbound at the Statesville Avenue exit (39) early Wednesday evening.

According to officials, a truck crashed through the interstate’s barrier and into the northbound traffic lanes. As a result, one northbound lane was also blocked by emergency crews assisting with the accident.

Medic says two people have been transported to CMC with serious injuries.

Officials still say the area may not fully reopen until around midnight. Crews are working to repair the damaged barrier.
