CHARLOTTE, NC – The man accused of shooting and killing another man in 2016 has been found guilty of murder.
The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office says 24-year-old Kedar Muhammad was found guilty of First Degree Murder on December 14th after jurors spent less than three hours deliberating. The trial began on December 4th.
Muhammad has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Muhammad reportedly shot and killed Rechard Mickle, 35, in the Steele Creek area in August 2016.
Officers initially located an abandoned vehicle on S. Tryon Street after reports of a shooting, but no victim. The following day, Mount Holly Police contacted CMPD about a gunshot victim, later identified as Mickle, being dropped off at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Mickle was pronounced dead a short time later.
CMPD later learned that Mickle had been shot on S. Tryon before being taken to CaroMont for treatment.
Charges are also pending against a co-defendant in the case, officials say.
