Charlotte DOT Announces Upcoming Street Closures

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Department of Transportation wants the public to be aware of multiple upcoming street closures around Charlotte.

You can take a look at the current street closures on the CDOT’s street closure page or the interactive street closure map.

The following streets will be closed in early 2019:

University East Drive between Back Creek Drive and the dead end will close on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 7 a.m. and will re-open on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 7 p.m.Β  This closure is necessary for installation of sanitary sewer taps for development. Local access will be maintained.

This road will be closed to all through traffic and CATS will not be affected.

Sunnyside Avenue between Hawthorne Lane and Lamar Avenue will close on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 9 a.m. and will re-open on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 6 a.m. Motorists should utilize Oakland Avenue, Central Avenue and Lamar Avenue as the detour. This closure is necessary for utility work as part of the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction.

This road will be closed to all through traffic and CATS will not be affected.

Folger Drive between Prett Court and Wingrave Drive will close on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 7 a.m. and will re-open on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 5 p.m. Motorists should detour using Wingrave Drive, Newhall Road, Lansdowne Road and Prett Court. This closure is necessary for part of a storm water maintenance project.

This road will be closed to all through traffic and CATS will not be affected.
