Thousands Expected to Ring in New Year in Uptown Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Thousands of people will ring in the New Year in Uptown Charlotte. The Queen City’s crown will rise as the clock strikes Midnight.
This year’s festivities are back in a familiar location, right by the Levine Avenue of the Arts. For the past few years, the event was held at Romare Bearden Park.
The one concern is weather – roads are wet with windy conditions.
“I wanted to come out this year I really wanted to come out here and give the kids a little bit of an adventure,” says Indian Trail, NC resident Kevin Whitley.
It’s the first time here for vendor Jermaine Merrero. He says he’s pretty excited.
It’s honestly overwhelming a little bit and exciting,” he says.
After the crown rises, there will be fireworks. The event is alcohol-free.
