Original Story (Aug. 16, 2018):

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A teacher with Iredell-Statesville Schools is accused of assaulting a 15-year-old foster child.

Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 43-year-old Christina Jolly after they say she was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile male.

On Sunday, April 29, 2018 the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report in reference to a 15-year-old child living in an Iredell County foster home possibly being sexually abused by a guardian. Deputies then notified the Iredell County Department of Social Services.

Jolly agreed to relinquish foster parent rights to the juvenile in July and was to no longer have contact with the foster child.

During the investigation, it was discovered Jolly was still in contact with the juvenile male through several social media channels. Based on this evidence, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Jolly’s residence, 131 Trophy Drive in Statesville, and seized several computers and other electronic devices.

Jolly has been a teacher with the Iredell-Statesville School System since 2002, but the victim in this case was not a student she taught.

School officials say Jolly has been suspended with pay. She has served at Troutman Elementary, Troutman Middle School and most recently as an English teacher at North Iredell Middle School.

The former teacher has been charged with five counts of felony statutory rape of a child 15 years old and given a $200,000 bond. She was also charged with felony statutory sex offense with a child 15 years old or younger and issued a $75,000 unsecured bond.
