ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A 41-year-old Taylorsville woman has been arrested after police say she assaulted officers while intoxicated last week.
On Tuesday, Dec. 27, officers responded to a home on Rink Dam Road in the Wittenburg Community around 11 p.m. where they located 41-year-old Laura Williams Walker who was intoxicated and causing a disturbance in the backseat of a car.
According to authorities, Walker refused multiple commands by the officers and ignored them when they asked her to step out of the vehicle. After finally exiting the car, Walker began shoving and assaulting the officers.
Police arrested Walker and charged her with resisting a public officer and assault on a government official.
Walker was transported to the Alexander County Detention Center where she is being held under a $1,500 secured bond.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 28 in the Alexander County District Court.
